19 Feb 2018 RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR
On January 21st, the annual official awards night function for the ACF, North Queensland’s Cairns and region’s Restaurant Of The Year Competition was held at the Cairns TAFE College.
During the 2018 year, nine of the region’s top restaurants competed for this prestigious award. The standard of both food and service was excellent and all restaurants should be commended for their efforts.
The ACF Restaurant Of The Year initiative continues to be held in high regard, and is well patronised by both restaurants and ACF membership alike. The competing restaurants for 2018 were:
- The Backyard Restaurant / Shangri La
- Cest Bon Restaurant
- Piato Restaurant at The Pier
- Salt House Restaurant
- Paperbark Restaurant / Kewarra Beach Resort
- Piccolo Cuccina Restaurant
- Vivaldis Restaurant
- Ochre Restaurant
- Temple Of Taste Restaurant / Sea Temple, Palm Cove
All participating restaurants were presented with a plaque to be displayed in their establishments, while the second and third placed restaurants received trophies. The winner, Cest Bon took possession of the competition’s perpetual trophy (which dates back to 1998) as well as a plaque to be be retained in their restaurant.
Excellent publicity surrounds this annual event and establishments use the prestige it brings in their promotional material.
Members and restaurants look forward to this year’s event, where 11 restaurants will be competing.
